Born in the former Yugoslavia, educated in Europe and Canada, Biljana's artistic style evolved through her rich cultural experiences and traditions.

After completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Sarajevo, she experimented with different styles in painting and explored printmaking. At the same time she taught art in the school system. During this time she traveled and lived throughout Europe, where she was exposed to different artistic influences which reflected in her art work.

Her career as a portrait artist started in Dubrovnik, Croatia where she had an opportunity to draw faces of people from all over Europe and the world. Due to political instability in the country, Biljana went to Spain where she lived for four years. She continued with her portrait art and immersed herself into this vibrant culture.

She approaches portraiture with a unique freshness and interest in capturing a facial expression and what is beyond that. Over the years Biljana acquired expressive qualities in her art style and earned international recognition as a portrait artist.

Coming to Canada, Biljana completed her Bachelor in Education degree with a major in Fine Arts from the University of British Columbia and taught art in a private school in Vancouver and in public schools, while continuing with her art and commissions.
